The Young Hopes five-a-side football tournament, timed to coincide with National Unity Day, was held at the “Start” sports school during the autumn break. Taking part in the contest were sportsmen born in 1996 – pupils of trainer and teacher Victor Chichvarin. Despite their young age and limited football experience, the boys played with great merit. The teams “Spartak-96” and “Zenit-96” took fourth and fifth place respectively. In the opinion of their elder colleagues, they will one day become worthy replacements of the current footballers.
However, it was the more experienced sportsmen, born in 1995 and trained by senior coach and teacher Anatoly Pekhterev, who ended up among the top three teams. The final places in the tournament table were decided in the following way – gold to “Russia-95”, silver to “Shinnik-95” and third place to the boys of “Chelsea-95” from Tutayev.
The team of judges also noted personal achievements. Roman Sokolov was voted the top scorer and Ruslan Jeromonakhov was voted the best attacker. Stanislav Gorelkin won the title of “Best Striker” and Vladimir Yermolov won the title of “Best Defender”. The judges also selected Artur Khametov as the very best of the young footballers.
All those who took part in the tournament were awarded certificates and commemorative prizes.
