The winners in the senior age group of the “Leader-2003” regional five-a-side football tournament for the Yaroslavl News prizes were decided ahead of schedule on 5 February. The tournament was held by the Yaroslavl Regional Football Federation.
The team from the town of Tutayev took first place with a lead of ten points over their nearest rivals, which was the team from the city of Rostov. The footballers from the Russian Paints company, which had fourteen points and was in third place on the tournament table, then defeated the sportsmen from Rostov with a score of 5-0. This meant that Russian Paints overtook the men from Rostov, who had been in second place with seventeen points. What allowed Russian Paints to take second place was the score of 5-0, as both teams had the same number of points and wins, so the higher place was awarded to the team which had the better results in their head-to-head meetings. Last place went to the footballers of the Yaroslavl Diesel Equipment Plant (YAZDA).
