Painter, teacher. Born in the family of Maxim Maximov in the village of Lopino in St Petersburg Province (1844). Studied at icon-painting studios in St Petersburg (1855–62) and under Alexei Markov at the Imperial Academy of Arts (1863–66). Awarded a gold medal for expression for Sick Child (whereabouts unknown). Member of the Pyotr Krestonostsev Artel of Artists (1864–65) and the Society of Travelling Art Exhibitions (from 1872). Awarded a silver medal and title of third-class artist (1866). Taught drawing at the Golenischev-Kutuzov estate in Tver Province. Travelled down the Volga (1866). First-class artist (1870), academician of painting (1878). Died in St Petersburg (1911). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1864). Contributed to the exhibitions of the Imperial Academy of Arts (from 1864), Society of Travelling Art Exhibitions (1871–1901, 1904–12), Pan-Russian Exhibition in Moscow (1882) and the Exposition Universelle in Paris (1878).
