Painter, graphic artist, teacher. Born in the family of Vasily Nevrev in Moscow (1830). Studied under Michele Scotti at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1851–55). Member of the Abramtsevo circle, Moscow Society of Lovers of the Arts and the Society of Travelling Art Exhibitions (1881). Taught at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1887–90). Curator of the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow (1889). Committed suicide at his estate of Lyskovschina near the town of Orsha in Mohilev Province (1904). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1854). Contributed to the exhibitions of the Imperial Academy of Arts (1859, 1873), Society of Travelling Art Exhibitions (1881–94, 1904), Moscow Society of Lovers of the Arts (1898–1900), Pan-Russian Exhibition of Art and Industry in Moscow (1882) and Play and Passion in Russian Fine Art at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (1999).
