The Premier Site for Russian Culture
A wooden building on the Black River at Novaya Derevnya was designed by Andrei Voronikhin (1795) and burnt down (mid-19th century). Landing wharf with granite sphinxes later transferred to the Stroganov Palace on Nevsky Prospekt stood before the pavilion for official receptions. Andrei Voronikhin planned a large garden with various park constructions, including bridges and an obelisk.
