The Kolobok

Once upon a time, there was an old man and his wife. The old woman used the last of her flour to bake her husband a small round loaf (kolobok). But the kolobok did not want to be eaten and ran away into the forest. On its way, it met various animals who wanted to eat it, but it dodged them and continued running. But then it met a crafty fox. The fox pretended that it couldn’t hear what the kolobok was saying, asked it to sit closer, right on its tongue, and gobbled it up.
