This film was the first Soviet satirical comedy. It pokes fun at the new class of entrepreneurs and the Moscow film bohemia of the 1920s. After a series of adventures, including a short-lived career as a film star, the beautiful heroine Zina Vesenina returns to her former profession of cigarette seller and falls in love.
Yury Zhelyabuzhsky (1888–1955) was an experienced film director and cameraman who invited such famous actors as Yulia Solntseva, Igor Ilinsky and Nikolai Tsereteli to star in the film.
