Photographer. Born in the family of Pyotr Dmitriyev in the village of Povalishino in Tambov Province (1858). Studied under Moscow photographer Mikhail Nastyukov and attended Sunday classes of drawing at the Stroganov School of Art and Industry. Moved to Nizhny Novgorod (1877), where he worked as a retoucher at the photographic studios of Leibovsky (1877) and Karelin (1880). Created a series of photographs on the famine and typhoid and cholera epidemics on the River Volga (1891–92). Photographed views of the environs of the River Volga and architectural monuments (1894–1904). Created a unique series of ethnographic photographs of the inhabitants of the Volga region. Died in Gorky (1948). Contributed to many national and international exhibitions.
