Painter, teacher. Born in the family of Mikhail Bobrovsky in Vitebsk (1873). Studied at the Vitebsk Seminary (1887–89) and the Imperial Academy of Arts (1893–1900). Painted female portraits in the Art Nouveau style (1900s) and Impressionist landscapes and genre scenes (1910s) . Founding member of the Artel of Russian Artists (1901). Taught at the Kharkiv School of Drawing and Painting (1902–04), School of Drawing of the Society for the Encouragement of Artists (1904–19) and the State Free Art Studios/VKhUTEMAS/VKhUTEIN in Petrograd/Leningrad (1921–29). Academician of painting (1916). Died in Leningrad (1942). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1898). Contributed to the exhibitions of the Imperial Academy of Arts (1899–1915), New Society of Artists (1909), Moscow Fellowship of Artists (1909, 1910), World of Art (1911), Union of Russian Artists (1911–17), Community of Artists (1921), Sixteen (1922) and the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (1923, 1926, 1928).
