Sculptor. Born in the family of Mikhail Orlov in St Petersburg (1911). Did not receive a systematic art education. Designed the monuments to Yury Dolgoruky in Moscow (1954) and Afanasy Nikitin in Tver (1955). Worked much in porcelain (from 1936). Created compositions on historical and fairytale themes at the Dmitrov Porcelain Factory, including St Alexander Nevsky (1943–44), The Little Humpbacked Horse (1943–44) and The Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish (1944). People’s Artist of the RSFSR (1968), corresponding member of the Academy of Arts. Died in Moscow (1971).
