Graphic artist, illustrator. Born in the family of Mikhail Rachev in Tomsk (1906). Studied at the Krasnodar Technical College of Art (1924–28) and the Kiev Institute of Art (1928–30). Worked for Ukrainian publishing houses (from 1930) and Detgiz (1935–37). People’s Artist of the RSFSR. Won a silver medal at the International Exhibition in Leipzig for his illustrations to Ukrainian folk tales (1958) and a silver medal of the Academy of Arts of the USSR for his illustrations to the fables of Ivan Krylov (1961). Died in Moscow (1997). Contributed to exhibitions, including a one-man show in Moscow (1956).
