Painter, graphic artist. Husband of Olga Bulakova, father of Natalia Sitnikova. Born in the family of Grigory Sitnikov in the village of Iva in the north of Penza Region (1945). Graduated from the Moscow Secondary School of Art (1963) and studied graphic art under Nikolai Ponomaryov and Oleg Savostyuk at the Vasily Surikov Institute of Art in Moscow (1966–72). Member of the Union of Artists (1975). Won the grand prix at the V International Triennale in New Delhi (1982) and first prize at the VII. Medzinárodné bienále mal’by in Košice (1984). Awarded the State Prize of the Russian Federation (2002) and a silver medal of the Russian Academy of Arts (2003). Corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts (2007), full member of the Russian Academy of Arts (2011). Lives and works in Moscow. Contributed to exhibitions (from 1966), including Abstraction in Russia: XX Century at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2001–02) and Times of Change: Art in the Soviet Union (1960–85) at the Russian Museum in St Petersburg (2006).
