Painter, graphic artist. Born in the family of Alexander Zharkikh in Tikhoretsk in Kuban Region (1938). Studied at Naval Academy (1958–61) and the Vera Mukhina School of Art in Leningrad (1961–67). Founding member of the Fellowship of Experimental Fine Art (1974). Forced to emigrate after signing a letter in defence of Alexander Ginzburg (1977). Lives in Paris (since 1978).
