Painter, lithographer. Born in Rozitten in Vitebsk Province (1892). Attended the school-studio of Y. M. Kruger in Minsk (1905), where he met Chaïm Soutine, and studied at Vilna School of Art (1909–12). Lived in Paris (from 1912), awarded French citizenship (1924). Introduced to Paris art dealers by Amedeo Modigliani. Studied at the Fernand Cormon Academy (1912–13). Painted landscapes, still-lifes and portraits in a style influenced by Pierre Bonnard and Chaïm Soutine. Worked in Burgundy and close to Paris (1920s). Travelled in Spain, Italy and Israel (1950s). Worked in painting and colour lithography, creating the Children of Israel album (1953). Died in Paris (1968). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1914).
