Sculptor, teacher. Born as Alexei Popov in the family of Fyodor Popov in Tver (1903). Later adopted the pseudonym of Alexei Yevgenyevich Zelensky. Studied at the Nizhny Novgorod Technical College of Art (1924–26) and under Vladimir Favorsky, Vladimir Tatlin and Vera Mukhina at the VKhUTEIN in Moscow (1926–30). Member of the Society of Easel Artists. Died in Moscow (1974). Contributed to the exhibitions of the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (from 1926) and the Society of Russian Sculptors (from 1929).
