Painter, graphic artist, illustrator. Born in the family of Vasily Pirogov possibly in St Petersburg (1872). Studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts (1892–1901). Founding member of the New Society of Artists (1903) and the Fellowship of Independents (1910). Illustrated Nikolai Gogol’s Dead Souls. Died in St Petersburg (1913). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1894). Contributed to the Exhibition of Experiences of Artistic Creativity (1896), Imperial Academy of Arts (1900s), New Society of Artists (1904–10), In the World of Art (1906–07, 1908–09), Moscow Fellowship of Artists (1909, 1910), Fellowship of Independents (1911–14), World Exhibition in St Louis (1904, silver medal), Esposizione Internazionale in Rome (1911) and a posthumous exhibition in St Petersburg (1914).
