Painter. Born in the family of Maxim Volkov (c. 1776). Studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts and awarded a minor silver medal (1803). Nominated to the Imperial Academy of Arts (1804), academician (1808). Painted icons for the Kazan Cathedral in St Petersburg (1800s). Made two copies of paintings by Sir Peter Paul Rubens in Count Alexander Stroganov’s picture gallery (1807) and three copies of a portrait of Tsar Alexander I in the Imperial Hermitage (1812). Painted portraits of Ivan Krylov (1812), Prince Mikhail Kutuzov (1813) and Pyotr Larin (1818). Died in St Petersburg (1831).
