German jeweller, goldsmith, silversmith. Hallmark: Keibel or OSK in an ovolo. Born in the town of Pasewalk in Prussia (1768). Worked on imperial commissions, including a liturgical set endowed by the future Empress Maria Fyodorovna to the Dormition Cathedral in the Moscow Kremlin (1788). Opened a workshop in St Petersburg, where he made goldware and silverware in the Sentimental and Neoclassical styles (1797–1809). Master of the guild of foreign masters (1797), assistant alderman (1804), alderman (1808). Died in St Petersburg (1809), where his work was continued by his nephew and apprentice Johann Wilhelm Keibel (1809–62). Contributed to exhibitions, including Valour, Honour, Glory: Rewards of Russia at the Moscow Kremlin Museum Complex in Moscow (2004) and Bequest of the Empress at Pavlovsk Museum Complex in Pavlovsk (2009–10).
