German medallist, teacher. Born in the family of Alexander von Leberecht in the town of Meiningen in the Duchy of Saxe-Meiningen (1755). Lived in Russia (from mid-1770s). Medallist at the St Petersburg Mint (from 1778). Lived mostly in Rome (1783–75). Academician (1794). Awarded Russian citizenship (1794). Principal medallist of the St Petersburg Mint (1799). Honorary fellow of the Imperial Academy of Arts (1800), where he headed the medallion class (1800). Designed fifty medallions and several coins. Died in St Petersburg (1827).
