Pepperpot

Such foreign spices as black peppers, raisins and cardamom were as precious as gold, silver, fur and silk in Europe and Russia. Pepper was exported from India to Russia, where it was added to meals and flaunted as a symbol of wealth. Pepper was stored in small handsome pepperpots, which were made of copper and decorated with stylised floral ornamentation and bright enamel paints.
