Grand Duke Dmitry Konstantinovich was born at the Konstantin Palace in Strelna (1860). He was chief of the Sixteenth Grenadiers Mingrelia Regiment. Served in the Horse Life Guards Regiment (until 1893), commander of the Horse Grenadiers Life Guards Regiment. A passionate rider, he remained a bachelor all his life. He was shot by the Bolsheviks at the Peter and Paul Fortress in Petrograd (1919).
