Tsarevna Martha Alexeyevna

Tsarevna Martha Alexeyevna was the third child and second daughter of Alexis Mikhailovich and Maria Miloslavskaya. She was born in Moscow on 26 August 1652 and baptised at the Monastery of the Miracle with her aunt Tsarevna Tatyana Mikhailovna as godmother. At the age of forty-six, she was forced by Peter the Great to enter the Covent of the Dormition in the Alexander Suburb for supporting his half-sister Sophia. Took the veil as Sister Margaret. Died on 6 July 1707 and buried at the Covent of the Dormition.
