Painter, graphic artist. Born in the family of Nikita Krylov in the village of Schelkunovo in Tula Province (1902). Studied at a studio in Tula (1918–21), under Alexander Osmyorkin and Alexander Shevchenko at the VKhUTEMAS/VKhUTEIN in Moscow (1921–28) and as a post-graduate student of Pyotr Konchalovsky at the VKhUTEMAS/VKhUTEIN in Moscow (1928–29). Member of the Kukryniksy (1929). Member of the presidium of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1947–49). Winner of the Stalin Prize (1942, 1947, 1949, 1950, 1951), Lenin Prize (1965), State Prize of the USSR (1975) and the State Prize of the RSFSR (1982). People’s Artist of the USSR. Died in Moscow and buried at the Novodevichy Cemetery (1990). Contributed to exhibitions (from 1927).
